After Care Tips When Getting A Gastric Bypass Surgery

By Kerri Stout

Physically speaking, invasive procedures are really a pain. It can also be a pain in some other areas like the after care. Thus, if you are availing this procedure, you have to make sure to think about the after care too. You have to remember your post op requirements so that you do not feel too troubled for getting the gastric bypass surgery in Mexico.

There should be various after care tips you can follow for this. For example, you have to know that your body will need vitamins for recuperation. You will be eating less for the sake of not burdening your stomach so you need to supplement vitamins. By keeping up with your intake of multivitamins, you can easily get proper nutrition despite eating less.

You should then remember to drink water daily to keep the body hydrated. You need to drink at least one and a half to two liters of water daily. Even though that is quite difficult after the procedure because of your reduced stomach size, you have to force yourself to drink water if you do not want to suffer complications.

Food with high fat and sugar content are not allowed during post op. Thus, you have to stay away from them. The said foot have high calories too and that is highly prohibited when you are recuperating from the invasive procedure. If you just go ahead and take those food, then you will suffer from vomiting and even abdominal cramps immediately.

As mentioned, water is important but it should be taken at the right amount and at the right time. You should not drink large amounts before meal. You have to secure high nutrients from food, not from liquids. Avoid drinking right at least forty minutes before taking a meal as well as twenty minutes to thirty minutes after taking one.

Carbonated and alcoholic drinks must be avoided at all cost. These are full of empty calories and will simply upset the stomach. They are not recommended while you are on your way to having your new stomach and your small intestines. You should be able to get an explanation from your doctor as to why you should avoid these drinks.

Do not forget to do some light exercises. This should be extremely helpful for you. Once you are capable of getting out into the sun, then you should try to walk a bit around the yard. You can even do so around the neighborhood. By exercising, you can prevent the muscles from getting stiff. Avoid rigorous exercises though.

Be sure to listen to the body. When your body tells you to eat, then you eat. If it tells you that you are already full, then do not overeat. You have to be aware of that so that you do not force your stomach to working too hard just to digest the food you eat. Otherwise, you will just be stressing your stomach.

Be prepared for all of these changes. Even though they are just small changes, they can still do a lot to you. Of course, the said operation will not change your whole life. It just means that it is a step that you can use to build up a proper diet for yourself.
